Bluegrass music was the root and inspiration behind much of Jerry Garcia’s music. Jerry collaborated with musicians from many musical backgrounds throughout his life, forming and reforming many bands outside of the Grateful Dead. Some of his best playing was done alongside David Grisman in their bands “Old and on the Way” and “The Garcia Grisman Band." Jerry never lost his connection with the music he credited for launching his career. There is also an exhibit called "Jerry Garcia: A Bluegrass Journey" at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky.
